Goodbye Ni88er-Area

In truth, we know that asking Buhari to let the trapped nationalities go is a waste of time. Buhari like Pharaoh of biblical fame is hard-hearted and will simply dig his heels in. However, in so doing the trapped nationalities in contraption Nigeria will gain freedom just like the Israelites did. We are the majority with Buhari and the Fulani the minority.

We Africans believe that names have power. We name our children with such care and attention. We know that our tongues have power and can speak things into existence.

Maybe the British know this, which is why they sing God Save the Queen. A friend pointed out that it is no surprise that HM Queen Elizabeth has had such a long reign.

Thomas Sankara changed the country’s name from Upper Volta to Burkina Faso, which means roughly “land of upright people” in Mossi and Dyula. 

That is why I cannot wait to say goodbye to the racist name, Ni88er-Area. The trapped nationalities in contraption Nigeria deserve better.
